Basement & egress.
Plan the opening before the order.
Basement windows may involve foundation work, a window well and drainage as well as a new unit. An egress project requires review of the actual clear opening and applicable local requirements. Nominal window dimensions are not enough.
What to settle before you order
Confirm who handles design, permits, cutting, structural review and window-well construction. Have the approved scope settled before final measurements and manufacture.
Make the quote a complete picture
Ask for the manufacturer, model, dimensions, glass package, frame finish and hardware. The installation scope should describe removal, opening preparation, flashing, insulation, sealants, interior and exterior finishing, disposal and site protection.
Product and workmanship are different promises
Request both warranty documents and a named service contact. Record what happens if removal reveals concealed damage, and approve additional work in writing.
